Which areas do you cover?

Currently most of the UK.  Areas we DO NOT cover are Devon, Cornwall, southern Somerset, West Wales and Norfolk

Can I have a straight lift on a curved staircase?

If your curve is at the top and consists of fanned stairs we will be unable to fit a straight lift as the user will be getting off on the narrowest part of the curved stairs and a fall could be fatal, so this is not something we would do.  If however you have a square platform at the top, then a further few stairs we can fit a straight lift up the straight bit, or 2 straight lifts up each flight depending on space.

If your curve is at the bottom and consists of fanned stairs, again this is something we would not do.  The cheapest option here is to get the stairs adjusted by a local carpenter (roughly £100) to make a square platform at the bottom, then we can fit a straight lift if the user can manage the first step.

Why is a curved lift so much more expensive than a straight?

With a curved lift the rail needs to be made up to your exact measurement by the manufacturers.  We have to pay what they charge!

Theres a single radiator at the bottom, will this need to be moved?

No, its usually ok unless its a double.

Does the lift fit to the stairs or the wall?

To the stairs by 3 rectangular plates, a small screw i each of the four corners to leave minimal inpact

How much clearance do I need at the bottom?

A minimum of 600mm

What happens to the lift when it gets to the top?

It finishes flush with the landing step, then pivots 90 degrees so the user can safely dismount onto the landing.  It then pivots back and folds away flat.  See our step by step in photos section for a visual aid.

Whats the minimum width staircase you can fit in?

Approximately 28 inches

Whats your breakdown policy?

If you order a new lift thats covered by the manufacturers warranty, the response rate is within 24 hours from the initial call.

If its a reconditioned lift, we find that 9/10 we can fix the problem over the phone easily from the diagnostic display.  However, if we need to come out, our working week is from Monday to Thursday, we will endevour to get there as soon as we can.

Do you offer extended warranties?

We are happy to offer an extended warranty on the first annuial service, to all customers with lifts 5 years old and under.  The price is currently £185 for the year and this includes the next annual service.  You will have to the end of the week to accept the warranty.  We only have the capacity to cover breakdown of lifts under our warranty.

Will you buy back my lift if its no longer needed?

Why do you only use the Acorn/Brooks lifts?

We find these are the most reliable stairlifts on the market and fit about 600 of these a year.  User friendly, asthestically pleasing and excellent value for money, why look elsewhere?!

Will the stairlift belong completely to me once purchased?

Yes, completely yours to do with as you will

Are there any additional or hidden costs?

We try our best to be as upfront and honest as possible about costs and offer a fixed price when doing our telephone assessment.  There are a few things we come accross from time to time, that take us a little more time, hence incurr an extra fee.

Concrete steps - £100

Removal of stairlift - £80 (not taken away)

Rail length over 4.3m - £80

Brand New Batteries - £20 (at time of install only)

Do I have to pay all at once or can I pay in instalments?

For new lifts we need 50% upfront, then the remainder once the lift is installed.

For reconditioned lifts, we require full payment once the lift is installed by way of cash, debit card or credit card (2% charge for credit cards)

Unfortunately, as a small company, keeping our prices as low as possible for our customers, we do not have the capacity to offer a payment scheme.

Can you remove my old stairlift and take it away?

We can remove your old lift for a £50 charge and can leave it outside for council or scrap man collection.  We do not have the room on our vans to take the lift away as they are always full to capacity. 

What happens if I change my mind?

All orders placed over the phone have a 14 day cooling off period by law, so if you decide you don't want the install to go ahead, please let us know and we will take you out of the diary.

Once the stairlift is installed, if its within the remainder of the 14 day cooling off period, we can come and take it out and refund you the cost of the lift but not the installation.  If its outside the 14 day cooling off period, refund would be at the managers discretion and minus the installation fee. 

If there's a problem with the lift, we will come and repair/replace parts or the full lift until you are happy.

Unfortunately, there are times where the stairlift gets none or little use before the owner sadly passes away.  The above rules would apply although we are under no legal obligation to refund.
